Ground Tours, 2026

The tributary-led fieldwork enabling this research was collectively generated by Tributaries: Dr Ying-Lan Dann, Dr Geoff Robinson, Dr Saskia Schut, Dr Benjamin Woods and Justine Walsh.

Ground Tours (2026) is a multi-institution research project, using art and architectural fieldwork to critically surface colonial undergrounds of Narrm (Melbourne) Australia. The research was developed on unceded Wurundjeri Country in dialogue with The Grand Tour, an exhibition of archival prints at the University of Melbourne curated by Sally Foster and programmed by Priya Namana. Working across submerged creeks, the project activated subterranean waterways as acoustic corridors for conversation, listening and vocalisation. Through sonic exchanges across stormwater grills, Ground Tours reorients attention from extractive, anthropocentric perspectives of the “Grand” to the co‑evolving conditions of the “Ground”.
