Porous House 2, Northcote, 2018
A granny flat for two young people to reside close to infrastructure and care for an elderly parent. The tiny 30 sq meter footprint provides a private room and shares a courtyard and laundry facilities with the primary house. The house is designed through the material and spatial vernacular of a paling fence, considering how the fence may become porous and inhabitable. This provocation asks more broadly, how can unused zones within our cities be reactivated as dwellings and social spaces?
