This interior fit-out for Fieldwork coffee roastery and cafe was led by the client’s ethos of ‘transparency’ in the sourcing of coffee beans for his roastery. This ethos was translated into a design approach that dissolves principles of back and front of house by through the insertion of two long stainless steel benches which service all requirements of the brewery and cafe. The benches operate functionally, spatially and as circulation. The original narrow tenancy featured a stepped entry. This was lowered to street level to create a smooth transition between the rhythms of the interior, the street and tram.
