Sertori Lau is the birthname of Ying-Lan Dann, an artist, architect and lecturer based in Narrm (Melbourne). Sertori Lau connects Ying’s Italian and Chinese family names. It is emblematic of her ethos of creating connections between people and people and people and place - design approaches that flow through her exhibition and interior design, art, architecture, teaching, research and writing.
Ying works closely with collaborators, clients and communities to reveal appropriate design approaches for specific situations. Ying has worked across many scales and project types with numerous award-winning Melbourne practices. Her project experience encompasses exhibition design, hospitality, community, libraries, tertiary education, single and multi-residential, laboratory, retail and work environments. Ying is a Lecturer (RMIT Interior Design) and PhD candidate (RMIT Architecture & Urban Design).
Sertori Lau respectfully acknowledges and pays our respects to Elders, past, present and emerging of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung and Boon Wurrung Language Groups where we live and practice. We express gratitude for the land stewardship and knowledge systems that we have inherited and commit to act and practice with consultation, care and thoughtful regard for these practices. Sovereignty was never ceded.
